It was a level of granularity we simply couldn't go into due to time constraints. Otherwise we'd need to differentiate between the Cadre's M16s and SLRs as well.

I decided that the M16s and FALs traded each other off in firepower terms and that as Special Forces, the Argentine Commandos may well have been firing single shots or short bursts over automatic.

Notice there are two FN 50-41's in the TOE which are the heavy barrelled versions and essentially squad automatic weapons. One was lost when the first group of Argies dashed for the gully.

The thing about Top Malo is you can change the game by changing the parameters. Allow the Commando FALs to fire automatic for an increase in short term firepower but at the risk of ammo depletion and accuracy at longer ranges. Though it may well be more effective at any guys (daft enough) running towards them.

Regardless of rules or weapons, a few better die rolls for the Argies would have tipped the balance. C'est la Wargaming. But it was probably a better game the way it was.

Cheers
MarkMarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13835446049246785287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690131777600341387.post-38176722264251489132012-06-03T05:39:54.673+01:002012-06-03T05:39:54.673+01:00Thanks for that Mark- one further question:

I guess it's like the argument for the SA80 vs LSW is it different enough to bother with a separate stat line?

Cheers,

Pete.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690131777600341387.post-36515124806504423862012-06-02T08:37:05.858+01:002012-06-02T08:37:05.858+01:00Thanks Pete,

The team leader gets the M16A1 in place of an SLR and the Rifleman with M16 becomes a Gunner with GPMG.

Argies:

1x Captain Vercesi, w/ FN FAL

Fireteam 1
1x Sergeant w/ FN FAL
2x Riflemen w/ FN FAL
1x Gunner with FN 50-41

Fireteam 2
1x NCO w/ FN FAL
1x Riflemen w/ FN FAL
1x Gunner with FN 50-41
1x Sniper w/ Mauser M1909

2x Blowpipe Gunner, 1x w/FN FAL, 1x w/PA3-DM SMG (as per figure)

Cheers
MarkMarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13835446049246785287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690131777600341387.post-15216953369380820772012-06-02T00:37:31.882+01:002012-06-02T00:37:31.882+01:00Great report; it's a game I've fancied doi...Great report; it's a game I've fancied doing myself. I'll probably use scenario as it stands in the Force on Force book.

What forces did you go for for the Argentinians?

Cheers,

Pete.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690131777600341387.post-32929026870978415932012-05-31T20:24:17.595+01:002012-05-31T20:24:17.595+01:00Just to say to say my tactics mirrored Boswell'...Just to say to say my tactics mirrored Boswell's is a bit unfair on him - my plan was four words "put the boot in" but....with the Argie sniper showing what was made of, I really thought I'd blown the mission. As I'd texted Mark though, I was really ready for some 20mm ultraviolence and resorted to putting out as much fire as possible and slugging it out. I wasnt at all happy about all that open ground but as the argies fell back from the house I began to feel a bit of fluidity in the game and followed my hunch that I could push on towards the gully and finish it.

Man of the Match? Hard to say, any and all of the Cadre figs had their moment but frankly my vote goes to the Argie sniper for being such a worrying bloody nuisance and who took up a lot of my attention and firepower.

Cheers
MaffMaster Chefnoreply@blogger.com
