They had quite a lengthy piece on Sir Walter Walker and I thought it might be of interest if you missed it. Not sure if it's on iplayer or will be repeated.

Great blog by the way, as always.

all the best,

Trev

Lost World of the Seventies
BBC Two
Sunday 13th May, 10.00pm

Michael Cockerell focuses on some of the more colourful characters from the 1970s. These include Sir Walter Walker, who thought a private army was just the thing to protect Blighty from communists and trade unionists, and Lord Longford, dubbed Lord Porn for his campaigning against the sex industry.trevhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02075948487364771772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690131777600341387.post-58234115611629519742012-05-13T21:17:14.691+01:002012-05-13T21:17:14.691+01:00Yes, this was a week of non stop wargaming tension...Yes, this was a week of non stop wargaming tension. A lot of give and take is involved, no rules lawyering here.

I had mentally allocated a weak Free Taff Btn to Abergavenny but Mark's initial post - bang goes the Neville Hall Hospital - suggested to me that the outer perimeter, including the railway station was already overun; I decided that had cost me a good company. When Mark fixed his frontline at St Mary's, I had this moment of inspiration, I know that area of town quite well and the Free Taff Headshed posting reflected my sudden realisation that I could run a spoiling attack, gain time, get a 2nd line up and set up some really nasty fields of fire for my gympy teams. At this point I also took the decision that the Free Taff CO only had two really good heavy mortar stonks in his bergen and a lannie mounted wombat recoiless....so, two platoons (Butch)based at the Angel, another (Gethin's)infiltrating, another at St Mary's with another over the road, another in reserve and that left me about three against the Rangers. Mark's right, I was slow in cottoning onto the threat of the Rangers but I was also more than happy to focus on using my knowledge of the ground to deal bloody nose to 5 Para.

Things are more than a bit stretched for the Taffs but those are narrow, warreny streets the Rangers have to get through.....

Cheers

MaffMaster Chefhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13944114725835215561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690131777600341387.post-23238230680424328912012-05-13T19:23:09.398+01:002012-05-13T19:23:09.398+01:00Great idea.Great idea.Lead Legionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12700198528204457272noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690131777600341387.post-26266816792204910072012-05-13T15:53:50.108+01:002012-05-13T15:53:50.108+01:00Wow.
